Wellness Checks and Vaccines
Veterinary care is not solely a response to issues pets may develop, but also a way to protect your pets’ health before problems arise. Wellness checks allow our staff to examine and determine the best preventative care measures for your pet, putting your pet on the road to health for years to come. Our staff will walk you through the necessary care measures, such as vaccines, reproductive surgery, and more so that you are well-equipped to maintain your pet’s health long-term.
First time pet owner? Unsure what your pet needs? Let us help you!
Sick Appointments
Even with appropriate preventative care measures and regular wellness checks, our pets may face ailments or injuries in need of examinations, diagnostics, and treatment. At RICPP, we will work with you to identify these issues and put into place the best treatment plan for your pet’s unique needs. Sick appointments differ from wellness checks in that they are intended to discuss and address specific issues your pet may be facing, rather than to create an overall picture of your pet’s health and preventative care measures.
Spays and Neuters
and other soft-tissue surgeries
At RICPP, we are well-equipped to perform a variety of soft tissue (non-orthopedic) surgeries; gastrointestinal, splenic, bladder, mass (tumor) removal, and more. These procedures can often be expensive and inaccessible at standard for-profit clinics, and we are proud to be able to offer them at more affordable costs for low-income Rhode Island residents.
Reproductive surgeries (spays/neuters) are an important element of preventative care and are common procedures at RICPP. Spaying/neutering your pet helps prevent a variety of health and behavioral issues down the line. While it is typically suggested to have dogs spayed/neutered between 6 months and 1 year of age, and cats between 4-5 months of age, it is important to speak with a veterinarian to get the most up-to-date breed, and pet-specific information.

Radiology and Ultrasound
We are proud to offer on-site medical imaging at RICPP, including radiology (x-rays) and ultrasounds, performed by veterinary specialists on a weekly basis. Detailed imaging allows us to create a comprehensive image of your pets’ internal anatomy. Through x-rays and ultrasounds, we are able to examine elements of your pets’ health often not easily recognized or diagnosed through external examination alone.
Dental Cleanings and Procedures
Dental care is an often overlooked, yet very important element of pet ownership. Poor oral health in pets can lead to dental disease, a serious disease that impacts all of the organs in our pets’ bodies and can cause significant further illness and discomfort. Though it is very preventable, it is one of the most common issues we see in our patients. At CPP, we provide a range of dental services to both prevent and, if necessary, treat dental disease in your pets. We encourage clients to speak with our staff about how to best take care of pets’ oral health from an early age to prevent the development of more serious dental issues in the future.

As your pets age, their health needs change. Senior pets need diet modifications to meet their changing nutritional needs. Older age also makes pets more susceptible to different diseases.
Thankfully, many of these are treatable and even preventable. Your staff at RICPP will help your pets make these transitions in their “golden years.”
