Who we are
The Rhode Island Community Pet Project (formerly known as the Pets in Need Clinic) is a 501 c e nonprofit dedicated to ensuring and maintaining the health of your pet. We know the importance of pets in your life, and we know you want to give them the best possible care. Qualified low-income Rhode Island residents can find this care at RICPP with fees significantly lower than the standard for-profit clinic.
Since our inception in 2016, we have cared for over 28,000 pets and their families from across Rhode Island. Despite our recent rebranding in 2025, our mission remains the same. With a team of passionate veterinary professionals and the support of the local veterinary community, we continue to offer our crucial services to qualified low-income families.

As veterinary medicine has advanced, accessible care for all pets has become a national issue. Low-income pet owners love their furry friends but at times are not able to find affordable medical care when their pets become ill.
A recent article in the Providence Business News states RI has the highest poverty rate in New England. It is estimated that 130,000 Rhode Islanders live with incomes below the poverty line. Additionally, an estimated 147,000 pets live within these homes.
The RI Community Pet Project offers one solution to bring veterinary care to these underserved pets.
